Computer Engineering Students Wins Silver Medals in the NCR CpE Challenge 2016
Groups of Computer Engineering students from Mapúa Institute of Technology emerged victorious in the recently held National Capital Region CpE Challenge 2016 in Adamson University last September 3, 2016 – winning silver in every competition of the said event. The CPE Challenge 2016 was composed of three main competitions namely: Bread boarding, Programming, and Quiz Bowl.
The bread boarding competition is an event where contestants show off their skills to design logic circuits that will match to solve the given problems. The programming competition is an event where the contestants display their ingenuity, analytical ability and programming prowess. And the main event of the CPE Challenge 2016, the Quiz Bowl, is where the contestants showcase their knowledge and familiarity in core courses of the Computer Engineering program.
The students from Mapúa went up against students from other universities in the region such as Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Asia Pacific College, Don Bosco Technical College, FEU Institute of Technology, Adamson University, Technological Institute of the Philippines, and more.
The Mapua Team was composed of the following students: for the bread boarding competition - Mark Raymond Abalos and Marcuz Corpuz.; for the programming competition - Jim Ilejay, Gabriel Ian Abel, and Rowick Legaspi; and for the quiz bowl: Priel Jann Escarilla, Mike Evander Ligsay, and Christian Kyle Floresta. Serving as faculty advisers were the following: for the breadboarding competition - Carlos Hortinella IV and Jocelyn Villaverde; for the programming competition - Dionis Padilla and Analyn Yumang; and for the Quiz Bowl - Meo Vincent Caya and Jocelyn Villaverde.
The Mapua Team earned the right to represent NCR in the forthcoming 2016 National CpE Challenge to be held in Cagayan De Oro City on November 23 to 26, 2016.
